Tonight they will be announcing the winner of the BP Portrait Award 2013 and I’m looking forward to when the exhibition opens at the National Portrait Gallery.
I think I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, it is really inspiring looking at drawings and paintings in which time has been spent studying how light falls on the human body.
In this day and age where it takes less than a second to post a “selfie“, it is refreshing to admire truly great art.
UPDATE And the 2013 winner is… Susanne du Toit has taken the first prize with a portrait of her eldest son Pieter.
